Why Are My TOZO Earbuds Not Charging?

TWS earbuds are not rare and expensive nowadays: many models are comparable in price with wired versions. But their advantages can be easily outweighed by the apparent disadvantage – battery life. A dead battery can still be forgiven and more accurately calculate the time or use a power bank for recharging on the go. Much more unpleasant situation when the headphones do not turn on at all. In this article, we will consider why my TOZO headphones do not charge, the causes, and the practical ways out of this situation that can be found independently without resorting to service centers or buying new headphones.

Wireless Headphones Don’t Charge: Causes and Solutions

If TOZO earbuds do not charge, it is essential to understand that modern TWS models are complex devices. A standard pair of headphones has as many as 3 independent batteries: in the headphones and the charging case. Each has contacts, sensors, and communication with the other components – there is something to break and different possibilities.

Understanding which component is the problem is not complex: there are status indicators on TOZO headphones and the case. And the expensive models are equipped with a segment and a digital charge indicator.

If one of the headphones doesn’t charge, the problem is most likely not in the charging case – in this case, usually, both don’t work. But we recommend checking the gold charging contacts in the case and on the headphones. They often get oxidized, jammed, or have dirt and earwax built up on them. It is better to clean them with spirit wipes and wooden toothpicks not to damage the delicate contacts.

The left/right earphones may not charge after a severe fall from a great height or falling into the water. But if they have outgrown them for no reason, then:

  • Check the moving contacts in case, sometimes they get stuck;
  • Make sure it is not a normal signal loss (detailed below);
  • Wipe the contacts on the earpiece itself;
  • Do a reset. Not all models support resetting, and methods may vary. We recommend reading the manual’s appropriate section or its electronic version.

Signal Loss

Loss of signal is similar to the situation when TOZO earbuds stop charging. One earphone does not work and does not light up. This is normal and found in different brands. The solution – remove the headset from the list of paired devices, put it in the case, and turn off Bluetooth on your smartphone. After reconnecting the device – the problem should disappear.

TOZO Charging Case Does Not Charge

TOZO Charging Case Does Not Charge

If the TOZO charging case is not charging, do a basic check:

  • Plug in the native power cord if you’re using a different cable. It may be too weak or not suitable for this model. Also, try connecting the case to the docking station. The goal is to try different charging methods and devices. We recommend plugging into other outlets to rule out malfunction;
  • Claim the case is not charging after 30 minutes of continuous charging. Give the case time, especially if it has been fully discharged and used for extended periods in freezing or hot weather;

Look at the charging port. It should be clean and dry. Sometimes dirt gets in there or oxidizes over time, leading to an inability to charge. If moisture gets in, most modern devices will block the power supply – waterlogging is often the answer to why one of your TOZO headphones won’t charge. Dry the connector and try again after a while. We recommend choosing headphones with good waterproofing, like the TOZO T12 Pro and NC9 Plus. You can read more about IPX standards here, as a reminder that the headphones and the charging case must be waterproof.

Acceptable Temperature

Many do not know that headphones can also be equipped with temperature sensors. They do not allow the headphones to charge if the temperature is too high or too low, which can damage the battery. The standard range of acceptable temperatures is from 5 °C to 35 °C. The rest are considered extremes. This is especially true if you charge your TOZO outside: in the sun or on a chilly night.

If you have the skills and equipment, you can check the case for proper operation using a multimeter (voltmeter). The reading should match the manufacturer’s instructions on the box, the manual, or the headphone cover.

Replacing the Battery

Let’s move on to radical solutions. It is advised to try them if you are out of warranty because after opening the case, it will be voided. If your model has a collapsible case, check if the wires have soldered off.

Then there are two options:

  1. Try to start the battery using a third-party power source directly. Usually, the batteries in the cases are designed for 3.7 volts. You can use similar batteries (but not more than 5 volts!) or 3 AA batteries. In the case of batteries, it is important not to reverse the polarity. Power is applied to the battery contacts of the case. Usually, several repetitions of 1 minute are enough;
  2. Order a new battery and solder it in place of the old one.

If handled incorrectly, these methods can ruin the case, so try them if you are confident in your abilities.

Service Center

If you have not dropped or flooded the device, a malfunctioning battery and non-functioning earpiece, a warranty case. We advise you to contact the service center for malfunctions and do not try to fix something on your own – at most, perform a reset.

Going to the unofficial service centers often also makes no sense – the repair cost is relatively high, and there is no guarantee that the device will work correctly next. In such cases, buying new headphones, preferably with waterproof and high-capacity batteries, is better. Over time, any battery degrades – with average use of up to 20% in six months, so it is better to initially take a model with long battery life to have a reserve.

Today we have considered different situations when TOZO headphones do not charge in a case, or one of the pairs does not work. Often the cause of the malfunction is mechanical damage, moisture ingress, and battery degradation. We recommend you not waste time on repairs and contact the dealers in cases where the reset, charging replacement, and contact cleaning did not help. And for advanced users, we have described a working method of replacing the battery and instructions for powering directly.

    Tried everything and my nc9 ear buds are no longer charging. No white lights on my charger case. What now? Thanks Scott

    • It’s worth checking if the problem is in the case or the earbuds themselves. As an option, connect the case to the charger and see if the charge goes through to the ears. If yes, you can change the case.
